Youth Music Ensembles
The Music Ministry of First Baptist Church is a large, inter-generational program devoted to equipping disciples to use their musical talents and interests to serve the church and the Kingdom of God. Music is a vehicle through which persons of all ages may find opportunities for worship, education, fellowship, and service. In short, music is an "instrument" through which we are able to experience each of these in the body of Christ.
Of all that vies for the heart of our students, nothing promises the same joy as learning to honor the Creator by making music that brings Him glory and points others to Him. The Music Ministry of First Baptist Church continues the musical and spiritual development that began in our children’s choir and handbell program. Rather than forcing students into pre-designed choirs, we look for ways of identifying the gifts that God has entrusted to our youth and then helping them develop those gifts as they grow as disciples. Let us help unleash the heart song God has placed in you!
Youth Choir is a place for adolescent youth to learn about their changing voices and how to use them properly to honor the Lord. Music is chosen with specific vocal ranges to allow young men and women to sing regularly and successfully all through the various stages of vocal change. The choir sings in worship services each month. The choir explores a wide variety of music including: classical choral literature, folk-hymns, spirituals, gospel songs, and contemporary music. Emphasis on placed on creating a place to belong and sharpening skills and confidence to lead worship and express a personal walk with the Lord. Each year, One Voice takes a mission trip or choir tour to share the hope of Jesus Christ. One Voice meets each Sunday during the academic school year from early September through June from 4:30-6:00pm in the Music Suite.
Youth handbell ensemble for grades 6-12 that meets Tuesdays during the academic school year from early September through May from 4:25-5:15pm in Music Suite.
